TSJ has high aspirations and it will be a great addition to your CV, especially if you are looking to a career in journalism. TSJ is currently looking for students (who will be studying beyond summer 2013) to join the team, filling various roles:
Multimedia Editor - Can you edit videos and podcasts? Techie at heart? You could be our new Multimedia Editor, helping TSJ expand its YouTube presence and regular podcasts.
Video blogger - Do you want to go into broadcasting or presenting? TSJ is expanding its YouTube channel and we want students to be a part of it. Are you a confident speaker? Enjoy debates or presenting news? Have video editing skills? Then this is for you!
Film Correspondent - Expert on films? Are you a film fanatic? We need a Correspondent for our Culture section that fancies themself as an expert on film, is really passionate about it and has a good awareness of the latest we should be watching or reading about.
Theatre Correspondent - Love theatre? Are you an actor-in-training? We need a Correspondent for our Culture section that fancies themself as a theatre expert, is really passionate about plays and musicals, and has a good awareness of the latest we should be watching or reading about.
Books Correspondent - Always got your nose in a book? Have lots of opinions of the future of digital and online reading? Or maybe you're studying English. We need a Correspondent for our Culture section that fancies themself as an expert on novels/short stories/biographies/etc, is really passionate and has a good awareness of the latest we should be reading.
Music Correspondent - Music expert? Love going to gigs, concerts and always on the lookout for new bands/artists? We need a Correspondent for our Culture section that fancies themself as an expert on music, is really passionate about it and has a good awareness of the latest artists we should be listening to.
Art Correspondent - Art expert? Do you love installations, painting, sculpture...? We need a Correspondent for our Culture section that fancies themself as an expert on all things arty, is really passionate about it and has a good awareness of the latest we should be visiting, checking out or reading about.
Comedy Correspondent - Big fan of stand up? Or maybe you're an aspiring comedian? We need a Correspondent for our Culture section that fancies themself as an expert on the comedic world, is really passionate about it and has a good awareness of the latest people we should be booking tickets to, watching or reading about.
Television Correspondent - Are you in the know about the best, latest series or documentaries? We need a Correspondent for our Culture section that fancies themself as a TV expert, is really passionate, and has a good awareness of the latest shows we should be watching or avoiding.
Editorial Assistant - Do you have a strong vision of what students want to read, listen and watch? Are you on the ball with current trends relevant to students? You would work alongside the Editor, Amy Ashenden, to find exciting content, as it happens, for the site and creating the weekly subsricbers' email.
Editor (Education) - We believe students should be informing the world about issues that are affecting them first and want TSJ's Education section to be one of the best places to find news and comment. Have the contacts to lead such a section?
Editor (Data)- Like playing with data and creating infographs? Then you're exactly who we're looking for. We see our data section becoming one of our most important sections for future growth.
Cartoonist - Fancy yourself as the next David Low or Kevin Kallaugher? Get in touch.
Commentator - Be one of our regular writers (as part of this role, you will be entitled Commentator on your profile page and have to write at least once every other week).
Social Media Editor - Twitter and Facebook pro? Think you can unlock TSJ's potential through social media? We need someone with passion and drive to publicise all the exciting goings on here at TSJ.
Live blogger - TSJ are now covering and live-blogging at an increasing number of (student) events and we need more live bloggers to get involved to help. You will have demonstrated in past experiences fantastic social media skills and the ability to convey academic discourse in an interesting manner.
Head of Marketing - Thus far, TSJ has expanded slowly but now we need to start letting all students know that this platform exists. You will lead a team in creating and leading marketing strategies to achieve this aim. You would also be responsible for ensuring that The Student Journals becomes a widely recognised name and would control TSJ's social media outlets as part of your role, alongside the social media editor).
Graphic Designer - This role entains creating fantastic designs to accompany our awareness campaigns and a few other bits and bobs around the website. We're also looking for a designer to create a magazine for us!
Podcast Presenter - Our podcasts are now on iTunes and we want more students filling and updating it with new podcasts. This would be yourself (or more if you prefer) talking about something political, social, economic or anything that you believe is an important, or interesting topic. Alternatively, you could just be talking about a film or theatre performance that you have just watched.
Sub-Editors - Would you like to gain experience in something vital for a career in journalism? TSJ is expanding, and we need help giving feedback and editing the growing number of articles that we receive on a daily basis. Have editing experience? Then be sure to get in touch.
Editor (Features) - Take the lead in this section, setting a timeline of events we want to cover, interviews we want to do, and topics we should be analysing in more detail. Our Features section often gets the highest number of views; there's a reason.
Education Reporter - Reporting on the latest on news affecting all students. As a reporter, you would be responsible for writing at least one article a week.
Content Uploader - In this role, you would be one of the members who puts up articles on the website. If you're looking to get into journalism, this role is great because it adds to your versatility and we'll teach you how to use a new content management system (CMS). However, you do need to know the basics of how to use a good photo-editing software and have a knack for choosing a good image.
Editor (studentjournals.co.uk) - We're looking for someone to take on the challenge of taking studentjournals.co.uk to bigger and more dizzying heights than ever before. Think you're that person? Read on for more details.
Editor (Lifestyle) - Now that our former editor's off enjoying herself at GQ, this role is free. Think that you're up to date with the latest in fashion, style and more. If you fancy a stab at the role, drop us an email.
Deputy Editor (Culture) - Are you interested in all things films, music, theatre and all things culture? Why not get involved with our culture team? We already receive invitations to screenings, interviews and more - do you believe you're the person to take the section further?
