The Student Journals is a non-commercial, independent online magazine with three main aims:

  1. Giving university students a platform (on a national level) from which to express their opinion on social/political/economic issues from around the world.
  2. Develop journalistic style and nurture talent – the main focus is that of comment articles, for which students are forced to do extensive research, decide themselves which angle they wish to portray all while ensuring it is an interesting read.
  3. Creating opportunities for student journalists that they would not otherwise have (eg. attending press conferences, interviewing well-known personalities, etc.)

The founders are a group of university students who felt that students did not have an outlet to express themselves and decided to start TSJ. They each have a background in journalism and have written for national newspapers themselves.
